Electronics We Install & Configure in Clearwater

We work with all major brands and handle everything from a single unit swap to a full helm build with integrated NMEA 2000 networking.

πŸ—ΊοΈ

Chartplotters & MFDs

Garmin, Simrad, Lowrance, Humminbird, Raymarine multifunction display installation. Screen mounting, power supply, GPS antenna placement, and chart card configuration. We mount where you can actually see it underway β€” not just where the screw holes are easiest.

🐟

Fishfinder & Sonar

Transducer installation is the make-or-break factor in sonar performance. We take the time to find the optimal transducer location for your hull β€” not just center of the transom. Side imaging, down imaging, and live sonar transducers installed and calibrated.

VHF Radio Installation

Fixed-mount VHF with DSC (Digital Selective Calling) capability, proper antenna mounting and coax run, and DSC registration. A properly installed VHF with DSC is a life safety device β€” it automatically transmits your GPS position in an emergency.

AIS Transponders

Class B AIS transponder installation for Tampa Bay vessel traffic. AIS lets you see commercial and AIS-equipped vessel traffic on your chartplotter and makes you visible to commercial shipping in Tampa Bay β€” critical if you run at night or offshore.

🧭

Autopilot Systems

Raymarine, Garmin, and Simrad autopilot installation including helm pump, course computer, and fluxgate compass. Proper calibration so the system actually holds heading accurately in Tampa Bay chop.

NMEA 2000 Networking

Full NMEA 2000 backbone installation connecting chartplotter, VHF, AIS, engine data, depth, wind, and heading into a single integrated network. When it’s done right, your chartplotter shows engine RPM, fuel flow, depth, and GPS all from one screen.

Why Professional Installation Matters More Than the Equipment

The best chartplotter in the world is worthless with a bad transducer install. Sonar performance is almost entirely determined by transducer placement and angle β€” not the unit itself. We test at speed to verify the transducer is reading clean water, not a cavitation bubble.

Antenna placement determines range. A VHF antenna mounted low in a radar arch performs significantly worse than the same antenna on a proper mast mount. We calculate clear line of sight and mount antennas where they’ll actually reach the Coast Guard.

Wiring done right lasts decades. Marine electronics fail prematurely almost always because of power supply issues β€” too small a wire, corroded connection, or shared ground creating noise. We run dedicated power direct from the battery bank with proper fusing and use tinned wire throughout.

Integration unlocks the full value. Buying Garmin units separately and wiring them independently means you get four separate displays showing four separate data sources. NMEA 2000 integration means one screen shows everything from every sensor on the boat.

FAQ β€” Marine Electronics Installation Clearwater

Can I buy my own electronics and have you install them?

Yes β€” bring your units and we’ll install and configure them. We recommend buying from a dealer with a return policy in case anything is DOA, but we’re not in the business of forcing you to buy through us to get installation service.

How long does a full electronics install take?

A single chartplotter/fishfinder install typically takes 3–5 hours. A full helm build with chartplotter, fishfinder, VHF, AIS, and NMEA 2000 networking runs 1–2 full days. Complex autopilot installations can add another half-day for calibration. We give you a realistic time estimate after discussing the scope.

What’s the best chartplotter for fishing Tampa Bay and the Gulf?

For inshore Tampa Bay fishing, Garmin’s ECHOMAP and GPSMAP series offer excellent coastal chart detail and strong Panoptix live sonar integration. For the Gulf and offshore work, Simrad NSS and Garmin GPSMAP are both excellent with better long-range routing features. We install all brands and don’t push any particular one β€” it depends on your fishing style and budget.

How much does marine electronics installation cost in Clearwater?

Installation labor runs $85–$125/hour. A basic single-unit swap is 2–3 hours. Full multi-unit installs with NMEA networking run 8–16 hours of labor. Equipment cost is separate β€” a quality chartplotter/fishfinder combo runs $500–$3,000+. We quote labor after discussing your exact project scope.
